Abu Reyhan al-Biruni was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List of 2022- 2023 jointly for Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
According to the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, in the UNESCO APX Commission meeting held on November 11th, 2021, “The 125th anniversary of the birth of Abu Reyhan al-Biruni” has been registered in the list of figures UNESCO will have tributes for in 2022-2023 for Iran, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. It will hold its place on that list until the cases for “The eight hundredth year of active life from Shams Tabrizi based on the meeting of Shams and Rumi” and “The one thousand and fiftieth birth anniversary year of Sheikh Kharghani” also become registered, which would bring the number of registered tributes to Iranian figures in the UNESCO list UNESCO to 42 cases.
The works of Abu Reyhan al-Biruni delve into multiple fields of study. Al-Tafhim includes his research of mathematics and astronomy, while Al-Baqiyah revolves more around anthropological observations and theories.
