The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

  • Carry out, jointly with partners, research on the practice and science of traditional medicine which will contribute to the compilation of a reference tool in the form of an encyclopedia;
  • Support the enhancement of capacities in the field of practice and science of traditional medicine notably through short-term training targeting students, academics, researchers, professionals and visiting professorships. In this endeavor, pay due attention to ensuring gender equality;
  • Foster and sustain the exchange of faculty and students;
  • Enhance networking and the sharing of knowledge and good practices notably through the production and wide dissemination of publications; the organization of national, regional and international meetings; and the creation of a dedicated website; and,
  • Cooperate closely with existing UNESCO Chairs and with UNESCO on relevant programmes and activities.

The specific objectives are to:

  • Provide law and psychology students, including Masters’ graduates, with hands-on experience (through its associated Family Legal Clinics), research opportunities and practical experience in the field of human rights;
  • Train academic experts, practitioners, NGOs and other stakeholders (e.g. the police, the judiciary) in the areas of human rights, peace and democracy in line with the priorities of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a view to building human security, democratic values and a culture of peace;
  • Build up a specialist library for human rights materials, along with the UN Depository Library which will serve as an important resource for students, scholars and local NGOs;
  • Publish research-based books (in Persian and English) and Persian Translations of books and materials relevant to human rights, peace and democracy, and;
  • Cooperate closely with UNESCO on relevant programmes and activities, as well as with other relevant UNESCO Chairs.

  • Develop undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on disaster management and provide training; design and implement technical workshops to upgrade disaster management-related skills and knowledge among faculty, researchers and professionals in this area;

The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

– undertake jointly with partners, research to enhance knowledge on wastewater reuse for agriculture and other applications. Identify good practices for mitigation of negative impacts; assess reliability of potential cost-effective technologies; and conduct countrywide assessments of the extent and significance of wastewater reuse;

– produce and disseminate widely materials to promote proper practices with treated water;

– provide expert advice to national stakeholders at different levels, as well as policy and decision-makers on water reuse related issues;

– facilitate networking and sharing of knowledge and of good practices on wastewater reuse, notably through the organization of conferences and workshops at the national, regional and global levels;
