Exhibition of Silk Scripts: Showcasing the works of two Iranian and Chinese artists

The exhibition of Silk Scripts will be held by showcasing works of Bahman Panahi, the Iranian artist and Haji Noor Deen Mi GuangJiang, on 29 October in the virtual gallery of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO at https://gallery.irunesco.org/.

This exhibition will be held by showcasing calligraphy and Calligram works of Bahman Panahi and Haji Nour Deen Mi Guangjiang.

The content of this exhibition mostly includes religious and Quranic works.

This exhibition will be held in virtual form in the tomb of Ferdowsi in Tus and simultaneously the physical versions of these works will be displayed in Mashhad and Tehran.

Regarding the exhibition, Bahman Panahi said: “I am happy that these world movements are performed in the form of two-person exhibitions with a special approach in the field of calligraphy, and this exhibition is held by the cooperation of a world-renowned master; therefore, I think it is a very promising event for the future and the calligraphers of our beloved country, Iran, can follow this path through cooperation in global movements and activities.”

Bahman Panahi has studied art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, Ecole Beaus-arts de Valenciennes and the Sorbonne University in Paris. The subject of his doctoral dissertation in visual arts and musicology is analysis of the relationship between music and calligraphy (Musicalligraphy). He participates in exhibitions, festivals, training courses and music concerts around the world. Panahi has also taught at various centers in Paris and has worked with universities such as Harvard and North Eastern as a visiting professor.

In 1997, Haji Noor Deen was awarded the Certificate of Arabic Calligrapher in Egypt, becoming the first Chinese person to be honored with this prestigious award. In 2000, Noor Deen initiated and taught the first regular and systemic Arabic Calligraphy course at the Zhengzhou Islamic College in China. In 2005, his piece named ” The Ninety-Nine Names of God” was acquired by The British Museum to be displayed in their gallery of Islamic Art. Haji Noor Deen was included in the list of “Top 500 Most Influential Muslims of 2009 to 2019 in the world” by Georgetown University, USA. On 11 October, 2016, Professor Haji Noor Deen was awarded the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre 2016 Islamic Economy Award in the category of Islamic Arts. In 2017 Haji Noor Deen was honored with an Arabic Calligraphy Certificate, called Ijaza, by Master Calligraphers, Hasan Celebi Hoca, Dawood Bektash, Farhad Kurlu and Ahmed Kocak Hoca in Istanbul, Turkey. He was the first Chinese Calligrapher to be honored by the Ottoman Calligraphy School.
